Jonny ran, breathing hard. He raced around the corner, adrenaline surging through his body and giving his legs more speed. He didn't want to die. He was too young.

Turning down a hallway he ran into Hadji and tried to push past.

"What is wrong, my friend?" The Indian asked laughingly. "The look on your face--!"

"Haven't you looked at your calendar this morning?!" Jonny hissed, the panicked look growing.

Slowly Hadji shook his head.

"It's That Time Of The Month!"

Hadji swallowed. "I'll get the keys to the car." He whispered hoarsely, and ran off.

They met outside, near the garage, and went inside quietly. They didn't want Jessie to hear.

The lights switched on and both boys inhaled sharply, gasping.

"You guys were trying to leave without me, weren't you?!" Jessie's eyes snapped.

"Uh . . .uh . . . Hadj?"

"We were just . . . um . . ."

"LEAVING! YOU WERE LEAVING! AND TODAY IS CHORE DAY TOO! THERE IS NO WAY YOU'RE LEAVING ME TO DO ALL THE WORK!!!!!!"

"Of course not Jess! We were just racing to the shed to get the lawn mower! That's all!" Jonny assured her hastily.

"LIAR!!! YOU GUYS ARE SUCH JERKS!"

"HEY!" Jonny protested.

"DON'T YELL AT ME!"

"YOU'RE YELLING AT ME!"

"I AM NOT! AND BESIDES, ONLY I HAVE THE RIGHT TO TALK IN CAPITAL LETTERS! YOU PEOPLE ARE JUST @$$HOLES!"

"Jessie!" Hadji exclaimed. He'd never heard her swear before!

"Shut up, turban boy! Now get inside and help me work!"

Jonny and Hadji exchanged worried looks as they shuffled into the house.
