"Careful," Kakashi advised, putting a hand on Iruka's elbow. "Don't get too close, it could hurt you."
"You think?" Iruka asked worriedly, backing away. "But it's so small, don't you think?"
Kakashi let out a soft, relieved sigh when Iruka stepped away from that thing. "Of course it could hurt you. Where did it come from?"
"Huh? I don't know, I just looked up and it was there."
"You didn't even notice it coming?"
"What?" Iruka looked outraged for a moment, shaking off Kakashi's hand. "It's tiny, even you wouldn't have noticed it."
"Where do you think it came from?" Kakashi tried again, taking a subtle step to stand between Iruka and the thing.
The rage left Iruka's face and moved a bit closer to Kakashi, shoulders bumping. "I don't know. If it didn't come on you-"
"I would have noticed," the older man assured him.
"-then it had to have come from nearby. Probably from...in here?" The teacher grabbed Kakashi's arm, fingertips digging into the jounin's skin, and pointed. "Him," he said accusingly.
"Him?" Kakashi asked, looking at Ukki-kun. The plant sat on the windowsill, thriving innocently in the sun, and a tiny bug slithered across the morning paper.
