"I'm getting married," Sakura said in a rush and took a breath, "It's all decided, so..."
Naruto gagged unattractively on the piece of omelet he'd just eaten and quickly washed it down with soda. "Married!" he shouted, standing up with both hands planted firmly on the table, "To who? Why? You can't get married! You're in love with Sasuke!"
Sakura's cheeks flamed red even as they puffed out in indignation. "Yes, but you're sleeping with him!"
"We've been sleeping together for years and that never made you get married before," he said, pointing an accusing finger at her, his face twisted up in a scowl, "Don't use that as an ex----uh, wait, when did you find that out? Haha, we're not sleeping together, we hate each other." Naruto laughed unconvincingly.
"I'm right here," Sasuke muttered, frowning down at his breakfast. They both ignored him.
"Years! Oh my god, I knew it had been a while but---" Sakura lunged to her feet, grabbing the front of Naruto's jacket with both hands and shaking him hard enough to rattle his brain around in his skull. "How long have you been violating my Sasuke-kun?!"
Naruto gurgled something incomprehensible and tugged desperately at her hands. Sakura got the hint, letting him fall daze-eyed into his chair before the damage could become permanent. She sighed, pressing her fingers into the ache above her right eye.
"Make them stop," Sasuke said desperately to Kakashi. The older man stared at him blankly for a moment over the top of his book and then took out his earplugs
"Huh?"
Sasuke hissed and went back to glaring at his food.
Meanwhile, Sakura was saying earnestly, "It isn't like we can time-share him. We both want him all to ourselves and...you're the one he heard first. You always have been." Sadness and regret gleamed in her green eyes.
The expression on Naruto's face echoed her feelings. "I just--I don't want you giving up, Sakura-chan. I don't want you going away--or--or taking second best."
She sat down and looked across the table at Sasuke. Feeling her regard, he lifted his head to meet his eyes; she saw irritation and concern, doubt and regret, and primarily, understanding. He gave her a faint nod.
"I already have the best," she said, smiling in a way that was closer to crying, and turned back to Naruto, affection entering her tone, "And I'll always be here, for both of you. You'll like him," she added, "He's wonderful."
Naruto scowled doubtfully. "Do you love him?"
"Yes," she said. Or something like that.
