Hugo & Bana

Originally ran in the Riverwest Currents 2006-2007. I love these misfits.

Sin climbing upside down

And now, just ‘cause I can, we have Sinny-babe climbing upside-down to get the last bit of millet that’s out of reach. Girl loves her millet, baby.

Can't fault a guy for his enthusiasm

There is nothing like a bird randomly giving his chirpiest of chirps as he sits on your left shoulder, and you find your left ear ringing and deaf for the next few minutes.

Oh, Peepster. You don’t know your own strength.

Dr Sketchy’s Madison, round 2!

Dr Sketchy's Madison 2 - Crackerjack

On the right: from this past Dr Sketchy’s Madison. You should visit its pool, where there’ll be more stuff from other artists.

Our model was Crackerjack from the Mad Rollin’ Dolls, and boy, is she cuter than any of your buttons. She was a delight to draw, and moreso to just watch, frankly. Times like these when all I want to do is take pictures.

(As an aside, going to Dr Sketchy’s invariably makes me want to be a life model. Dude. . . .)

Another cool thing to happen while Stacie and I were there was that someone came over and told us he had attended the workshop I co-hosted with Studio Antithesis at last year’s Madison Zine Fest. He said it inspired him to get going with his comic, which was fantastic. He gave us his website link, but I’m afraid it’s in Stacie’s sketchbook right now so I can’t point it out. But it was great to meet someone who remembered me — us — from that workshop!
