Shifting Ground
A collection of Tintin fic written by Maelstrom

Tintin & Snowy Tintin & co. are Herge's, natch. More info about the characters can be found here. It's a mega-super-fun comic book. :)

The characters in these fics have been changed from the original, however. They've been altered either subtly or a large part, but hopefully not so much that they've been rendered unrecognizable. I just wanted to put a more modern, realistic take on them, because I thought they needed more depth.

Well, let's put it this way. When I first started this, I sorta contemplated making it into a series but didn't think it would really happen. It was one of those, "Maybe, maybe not, (*shrug*)" things. Then, slowly, thanks to lovely feedback from readers asking for more, this happened. :) Thank you, everybody! Never would've done it without you!

Note: This isn't a long, forever-ongoing series, though. It's meant to be short and limited. The most I'd originally intended to write was three stories, max (of course, that plan failed, but the intention remains). There were times when I told myself, "This will be the last story," and then people kept asking for more.

But there won't be anymore stories, because as I told my mailing list:

The thing is, the great thing about Tintin was that his comics and adventures never seemed to end. Even when his last comic was done, you never got the sense that "this is it, the end, nothing more for Tintin, finito." If I were to write some more Tintin, the only thing that comes to mind plot-wise is to end the whole thing I was doing about [snipped to avoid spoilers for new readers :) ], and that's no good, because Tintin doesn't end. I think it should be left up to the imagination of readers what they think will happen to Tintin next. If people want to take things from there, write more about it, or imagine more about it without writing, that's great. The way it should be.

Besides, this never was supposed to turn into a series. It only became so because of wonderful feedback from readers (so really, it's all your fault that I ended up writing more! Bad feedbackers, bad! >;D J/k!).

So even though I have a very organized plot summary written out from a couple of years back, and even though I've written a bit the story that I think isn't so bad, I'm just gonna let it fall here. Notice I didn't say "end," because remember, Tintin doesn't end. Whatever happens will happen, and he's open to all possibilities.

In short, no more updates here.

But don't let that stop you. Have fun, and enjoy. Feedback is always nice. :) Submissions will be considered (though no promises); they don't have to involve the changes I've incorporated into the characters, but you can if you want to.
