Subreality Times
Issue #4
Monday 22nd, May, 2000

At first there was darkness. Despair. Oh yeah and the wailing. Can't forget the wailing. The people of Subreality languished in gloom waiting for a Savior to arrive. (No, not Xena The Warrior Princess, you doofus. Me!) And he didst arrive. And he didst say upon the people, "Rejoice for I bring you NEWS!"

Well yeah, it didn't happen exactly like that... But that's how I meant to do it. Ah, what do you know?! Anyway, I'm here. You are here. Why, is beyond me... The 4th issue of the Times is here. Yaaay. The phenomenon continues, as all (I like my delusions) of Subreality watches with sick fascination how long will Doqz actually be able to meet the self-imposed deadline. Keep watching, I thing he's close to cracking...

Now, onward to the gossip... er... the news I mean... Yeah, that's it...

The Bullet:

You may have noticed the beginning was a little long. As much as you enjoy my delightful ramblings, there is another reason. What you ask? NO FESKING NEWS!
ARGH!
A godawfully slow week, therefore this issue will be as much given to ranting as to the news. Gotta feel the space, donchaknow...

The Eco-Challenge RR is veeeeeerrrryyyyy slooooowwwwwwlllllly continues on its way. The other RRs seem to have come to a final stop. "The Springtime" is apparently fated to stay unfinished... I suppose it's fitting to admit it, as the spring draws to the end. "Writing the RR" has being declared wrapped up and so has "Requiem."

LO! The Mecca, the source of the enlightenment, CFAN has been updated again. Check it out. DexCon funnies are linked.

Current Affairs:
Participants in the Eco-Challenge RR... well let's not beat around the bush... Team Drunk is doing a wonderful job living up to its name. This group of very determined individuals is single-handedly responsible for the alcohol shortage in SCity. SCPD has been put on alert. Chief Sparks had this to say, " $#@@#@ ^%$^$ WRITERS!!!!!"

Metropolitan news:
For the SCML citizens. Well here at least we have something. A couple of interesting tidbits.
Firstly. A mascot has been chosen. Behold! The Rainbow Dragon... images would be forthcoming shortly, seeing as how Farli as an artist herself and Tapestry volunteered her services. The debates over the naming are starting to grow into not so localized conflicts. Chief Sparks had this to say, "$%$&^% <edited$#62 &^$$% WRITERS!!!"

Personally we at the Times are far too dignified to take part in this. And we would like to say that this has nothing to do with our earlier conversation, Farli. And BOB would be a good name! Would so! And calling the dragon Ying and the unicorn Yang was even a better idea! So there! Nyah!

As I said, the Times will not lower itself and it's image. We remain the very symbol of maturity.

The prolific duo that is Rachel and D$#136Knight are back. The supply of feedback is apparently resumed. They also decided to come back in style, releasing a 5-parter Muse Tale "Seeking the Past."

And finally the Scribe herself who seemingly went underground, because of having a life, has returned to the City. Letting a huge mass feedback roam free and wreak havoc upon her return. Having no first hand experience of this "life" thing I cannot comment on that particular aspect. So... I'll comment on the other. I'm mentioned there. Favorably. Read it! Or I shall be angry... you won't like me when I'm angry...

Blithely sidestepping the blatant plagiarizing of the Hulk, we move on.

Reflections:

The "Requiem" RR is over. On the first glance just another angsty RR. When looking deeper a trend emerges. Both this and Eco-Challenge RR has been somewhat more strictly controlled then previous open RRs. In both there was present a structure of.... overseership, for lack of better word. Several people who consciously kept track and directed the flow into certain direction. More organization, a declared or tacit set of regulations. Less anarchy. Will this trend continue? Is it for the best? We'll see, I suppose.

Business:
As was mentioned above, there is a shortage of alcohol. Tempers are running high and so are the prices. Also, a little spat between Raven's WWF and GenX fictives carved a trail through most of the city. Details are found in his fic "Break It Down." Construction companies are positively giddy with excitement. On other hand it's consistently rumored that insurance companies have several hitmen looking for Raven.

Other News:
The Scratching Post has been busy. Sinisterly so... To those of you who have turned to the Dark Side - there is a discussion of Pokemon Movie on there. Parallels with Stryfe and Magneto have been drawn. Scary...

The rest of the boards are relatively quiet. No boom this week (you know what's coming. I ripped the Big Green off, didn't I? Why should I spare Ivanova...) Boom next week, there is always boom next week.

Well that's about it. I'll go see if Carrion needs any more partners for Pikachu hunt.

Weather report:
Mostly sunny, around 70s, a plague of locusts over the weekend.

Hasta la bye bye.
